Life in the Body

Last week was full of such a beautiful, satisfying sense of being fully engaged in a local church body that is like an extended family. We shared in the rejoicing of those who had reason to rejoice and we shared in the sadness of those who had difficult situations arise...and everthing in between. The weekend started with a father/son trip to a baseball game in Portland, ME. Everyone had a great time even though it rained. It was Aaron's first time to a professional game and he is still talking about it. The weekend ended with Matt conducting his first baptisms. He baptized 1 teenage boy and 2 younger girls...all of whom we have been a part of their lives for years so it felt very natural to see Matt be a part of such a significant step in their young lives. It is a true blessing to be in a church where people feel like they are engaged in our lives and that of our children as well. Aaron has many friends that he knows by name now and whenever we say we are doing something "fun" or with "friends" he immediately asks if we are going to church. We are thrilled that he has such a positive association to church.

Since Borders is going out of business :( we took advantage of the discount and bought a puzzle for him that we were originally going to wait till he got a little older. No worries though! He had it mastered in less than 48 hours and it has been a very helpful tool in showing him where we live and all the relatives. It is so cute to hear him pronounce the different state names in his 2 yr. old speech. I love that he is enjoying something that is special to Matt and I...traveling and developing a love for our country. He of course didn't want brother to miss out and started showing him the different pieces. We had to explain to Aaron that Owen couldn't tell him the name of the state right now, no matter how long he stood there and waited!
