Living off the Land

Precious loved how much easier the hay baling made it to get mice! She regularly shows off her great hunting skills and then devours her kill on our deck (usually mice and birds). She earns her keep around here! Whenever I'm in the garden she stands guard and also helps me weed!

Goin' for the tag

No matter what toy Aaron has, it's the tag that he grabs for the most!

The Better Soda

We live in Pepsi country around here so I was thrilled to see that Aaron already has demonstrated an eye for quality :) He is fascinated with cold cans and bottles...whenever he is around someone with one he makes sure he/she knows that he expects them to share!

On the Move

We've tried to send a video but it appears to be too big to work on this blog....

In an effort to reach Daddy for hugs, Aaron started crawling on Friday!!! He didn't waste any time getting to the next stage...Saturday he started pulling himself up!!! We are so excited and now we have to start baby proofing the house. Precious has not been the least bit threatened at Aaron's prior attempts to reach her (she has been quite a big motivator for him to learn to move forward)...she's going to be in for a surprise when she realizes he's reached this milestone!

Getting Some Zzzs

We are on the way to discovering what it means to sleep again! Aaron had a great 6 month check-up on the 13th and so we decided to take advantage this weekend of a 2 week window we have of no traveling or overnight guests so we could have several consistent nights in a row to tough out training him to sleep in his crib in his room instead of the bassinet in ours. Matt finished the guest room and I'm amazed again at his ability to transform a room. We got the two bedrooms put back together and moved upstairs. We made a big fanfare of Aaron being in his bed. He loved the bright colors of his quilt and seemed to think it was great fun! Later that night when it was time for bed, he didn't think it was quite so fun, however!

He did much better than expected and each time he's gotten better and better. I'm enjoying the guest room very much and our new sense of privacy and freedom. We are already getting more sleep and the domino affect is that Aaron is responding to my attempts at a feeding and napping schedule so much better. No more snacking and power napping!! I feel a whole new world has opened up to us!!!!!

Movie Recommendation

Yesterday, Aaron curled up on me and took a rare 2 hour nap. Because of the rain (again!!) my plans got thwarted (again!!) and my sweet husband encouraged me to take advantage of the rare opportunity to sit and relax! I was able to watch a funny, mostly clean movie (minimal offensive language and innuendos) without interruption! I could totally relate to a lot of the situations in "New in Town" from my experiences adjusting to life here. While I wasn't corporate driven like Renee Zellwegger's character (spelling??) and Maine is just a small step more "advanced" than the people portrayed in the Minnesota town...still there was much too much in common! If you want to have a small glimpse at the extremity of the two lives I have led thus far or just want a lighthearted couple of hours in general, I highly recommend it!!!
